Lifts/Elevators
Elevators, also know as lifts, are a great mode of transportation for everyone - particularly those with disabilities who cannot take the stairs, or elderly who may find stairs too hard. Elevators make it easier for everyone.
Elevators can be a real game-changer, but if they are not accessible for all then it can pose a problem. Think of a wheelchair user trying to go for an interview which is on the 3rd floor of a building? They get there to find the elevator does not have room enough for them to turn, as well as no room for others to fit in also. That’s not exactly ideal, right? There is no other way for this individual to get up there, so does this mean they just give up and go home? It shouldn’t! By allowing users to check ahead of time what type of access to expect, they can better prepare for instances like this - particularly when an elevator is really the last or only option of transport to other levels.
Let’s watch this video to see how we can best inform users of what to expect when it comes to elevators.
Let’s see how well you got that !
