Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How can I report a fault?

Please let us know if you have any suggestions with our data collection, or if there is a mistake with one of the pins on the map. There is a ‘report fault’ button in the app, or email support@smartaccess.enterprises

What do the coloured markers mean?

Most coloured markers follow the ‘traffic light’ system by rating variables that are ‘good’ or more accessible with green, and rating those that are less accessible with red. The scale goes from good to bad in order; green, yellow, light orange, dark orange, red.

Environmental factors not obviously good or bad to most people are given blue, pink, purple, grey, dark grey, or brown.

What do the black markers mean?

The black markers are accessibility features that we think are there, but have not been verified by a trained Smart Access auditor.

How do I choose which infrastructure features I can see?

The sidebar in the app allows users to turn on/off any folders or subfolders. This allows users to only see the information that is relevant to them. i.e. users could turn on ‘Kerb Ramps’ and ‘Gradients’ and then turn off the Kerb Ramps over 12 + degrees and Gradients over 8 + degrees so they can see all options that they can safely manage.

You can select one folder only by double tapping it. All other folders and subfolders will turn off.

Can I navigate to a destination using the Smart Access app?

Currently, users can choose a point of interest (POI) to navigate to in Google Maps, but there is not navigation or wayfinding available. However, that is a feature we wish to add in 2024.

How do I get Smart Access to collect data in my town or city?

Please ask your local Council to collect more data on people with a range of disabilities, in particular around accessibility features in infrastructure. Then you could suggest Smart Access as a service provider to collect reliable and standardised data nationwide.
