Seating
Seating is ideal for a lot of people, such as those with mobility difficulties or our kaumatua/older people who cannot walk for long periods of time. It is also a useful space for parents to sit with their young children.
Knowing the features of these seats, such as armrests or backrests, are also useful to know whether they have what each individual needs.
Let’s watch the video to see what Tim has to say!
To measure seating, you will measure at the front of the seat, from the bottom to the point where one would sit. You will measure in millimetres.
There are 4 subcategories for Seating:
Backrest
Backrest and Armrest
No Backrest
Wheelchair Space
The first three subcategories are subcategorised again: Under 450mm and Over 500mm. If the seating height is 550mm and has a backrest, then you will subcategorise it as ‘Backrest’ > ‘Over 500mm’. If the seating height is 400mm and has a backrest and armrest, then you will subategorise it as ‘Backrest and Armrest’ > ‘Under 450mm’.
As Tim mentioned in the video, if the seating has space for a wheelchair then you must drop a ‘Wheelchair Space’ in addition to the Seating pin.
